Dutch artist Raymond Lemstra: “What I find interesting about these is the distortion as a result of selective emphasis; parts of interest are emphasized, unimportant parts reduced or left out. For characters this means they come out big headed, where focus is on the face and the body is trimmed to its essential properties.”

I like the modern take on primitive styles, and the incorporation of some geometric pattern/linework… and colors are quite nice too.

“(Jim) Hodges replaced part of the original surface of the rock with vibrantly colored stainless steel casts offs. Part of an new body of work that extends to Gladstone Gallery’s 24th St. location as well, the installation is a magically poetic reference to many religious traditions, from Japanese Kami beliefs or Stonehenge worship sites to Judeo-Christian as well as Muslim practices in which rocks were  embellished to embody a myriad of spiritual notions.”
So very beautiful. I love the scale, texture, and color as well as his reference to ritual and worship. Oh and craftsmanship! “Hodges replaced part of the original surface of the rock with vibrantly colored stainless steel casts offs.” Amazing.

"The reason that most of us are unhappy most of the time is that we set our goals—not for the person we’re going to be when we reach them—we set our goals for the person we are when we set them."

I was the raving friend mentioned below. I am enjoying this delightful beer right now. If you haven’t tried it, YOU MUST.
coherentramblings:

My friend was raving about this particular beer this weekend, so I was excited to find it on the seasonal menu at Alamo this weekend and when I went to see Bridesmaids.
I took a sixer along with me to the Cinema East screening of Winnebego Man at the French Legation on Sunday night - which was AWESOME btw! Next screening in June 12th! Austin tumblr meet-up?  Haaaaay!

SCAD ID Students - 2011 work

Brings me back to the good old days of college. Why do I feel sleepy, yet anxious all of a sudden? Why do my hands smell like paint? Holy cow I just lost 15 pounds! Is that Radiohead playing? Eew.. my laptop just turned from a mac back into a Dell. Weird.
